Set Asides are designed to give small disadvantaged businesses an opportunity to secure a government contract. Often times a small and disadvantage business finds it almost impossible to secure government contracts due to not being able to complete with big business. Set-Asides ensure that small business owners qualify for Government opportunities that BIG businesses are NOT allowed to bid on. The SBA - Small Business Administration determines the qualifications to be categorized as a small business. The U.S. government has over 1100 government agencies, who purchase 13 million different products and services and $200 billion is mandated for small businesses.
